It’s a pretty boring week for Food Lion deals! I’ve scanned this week’s Martin’s ad and there are a bunch of great deals coming up so I’ll be saving my extra grocery money for there. Food Lion is still where I do the majority of my shopping each week because for the weekly staples it is the cheapest and closest store for me.
What are my weekly staples?? These are the items I buy every week no matter what: 4 loaves of bread (my kids are crazy), 2 gallons of milk, & fruit. These items are hard to stock up on because they go bad quickly and rarely have great stock up deals.
What do I spend the rest of my money on? The rest of my grocery budget goes towards buying the deals I post each week. I base all my meals on what I already have in my pantry or what I can buy on sale that week.
I don’t list every item that is on sale like many other coupon sites. Many times the “sale” price really isn’t that great and you can get a comparable item for cheaper. For example- Tyson chicken nuggets are on sale for $6.99, but the store brand is probably under $5. I also don’t post items that I can make cheaper than the “sale” price. For example- Pillsbury biscuits are $1.00, but I can buy a big box of baking mix and make them myself for much less.
Food Lion Deals 1/10-1/16
- Food Lion Chicken drumsticks or thighs $0.99
- Note- There is a 2.5 lb bag of frozen chicken breast on sale for $5.99. This comes out to $2.39/lb which is NOT a good deal!! Unless you really need frozen chicken this week, don’t fall for this “deal”.
