How to perfectly peel an egg

Connect With Me:

Do you struggle with peeling hard-boiled eggs? I think I have finally figured out how to perfectly peel an egg without removing big chunks off egg! I must not be alone in this struggle because a quick Google search will give you a million ideas on how to get a better hard-boiled egg. I’ve tried many methods – using older eggs, adding salt, changing the boil time etc but I think I have found a super simple solution.

The answer: Be patient and wait a day.

I’ve tested this on last 3 batches of hard-boiled eggs. The eggs peeled immediately are a mess, but the shells of the day old eggs slip right off.

My RecipeFrom Better Homes & Garden cookbook

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in pot.
  2. Cover with cold water.
  3. Bring to rapid boil.
  4. Remove from heat and cover.  Let sit 15 minutes.
  5. Remove hot water and let cool.
  6. My Step: Let sit in fridge overnight before peeling.

Test this out yourself and let me know what you discover!

P.S. Eggs are a super frugal way to add protein to your meals! You can hide an egg or two in almost any dinner! Stir fries and casseroles are my favorite.
